In honor of Labor Day Weekend. I thought I would post pictures from our vacation this year. We did so many things I thought I would break the posts into parts! So, here's Part 1!
We spent a couple of days in St. Augustine before moving south to Ormond Beach with the family. I love St. Augustine and it's rich history. We decided to take our son to the Lighthouse since a dear friend of ours handpainted it as part of his mural in his bedroom. Now, I must explain what happened to me at the Lighthouse. I'm one who doesn't give up easily. When as a family we began our flight up the 219 steps (remember that's also 219 down!) I got to the 2nd bend in the stairs and felt the walls moving in on me. I felt my chest tighten. I took a deep breath and started walking again. Then as I looked up I realized I couldn't do it! I felt like a failure! Chris realized this was not my cup of tea and suggested I wait for them at the bottom. So, my four year old out did me! There was a nice group of elderly ladies at the bottom as well so we entertained each other meanwhile.
Those who know me, know how much I love maps. Especially old maps! This one shows the area where the lighthouse is at St. Augustine.
Before the trip up 219 steps!
Looking up the flight of stairs!
I'm so surpised you can't see my flip flops on the ground floor!
The beautiful glass at the top of the lighthouse!
Obviously my husband took these photos since I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs!
The view from above. (So they say!)
Now here's Alligator Farms! If you have never been and have children take them. It's worth the trip.
Truly a face only a mother could love!
Feeding Frenzy! The awesome power of these creatures is something to see. They are powerful creatures especially when hungry!
Here's a sign you don't see everyday!
Stay tuned for Part 2!
oh the suspense! Love the pics!
