Vacation 09 Part 3

The first leg of our vacation we stayed at a beautiful place in St. Augustine, Camachee Inn at the Harbor. It's such a serene place to stay. Andrew enjoyed walking on the pier and looking at all the boats. As we walked the pier the fisherman would stop and show Andrew their catch of the day. We watched manatee eat the barnacles off the boats. It was very relaxing!
Enjoy!

Vacation 09 Part 2

I LOVE history! So, while we were visiting America's oldest city we had to visit Castillo de San Marcos! I can remember visiting there as a child with my family. Our son loved every minute of the tour! Following pictures of the fort you'll see what we saw on our boat tour of St. Augustine!
-Enjoy!

Interesting how they used seashells in their mortar!

Very pretty for such a deadly device!

Can you hear him making the explosion sounds?

Look at these uniforms. Here we are in Florida it was 95+ degrees and they wore actual replicas of the uniforms the militia worn back when the fort was in operation. The uniforms were made of wool. Makes you scratch just looking at it doesn't it? These fellows are all volunteers. They speak in Spanish as they did back when. It was really neat watching them do their formation.

We went on a boat tour in St. Augustine. It was about 45 minutes and we waited until around 6:00 to cruise. We were so glad we waited later in the day because there was a nice breeze, it was very relaxing. We loved it as much as our son did! We sat in the bow of the boat with another couple and their girl. On the tour we got to talking with the couple and learned that they live in the town next to ours. She graduated from high school a year or two behind my husband and we know a lot of people in common. It was like meeting old friends. It was one of those moments that when we exited the boat we were all hugging goodbye.
We like to read, "Little Toot on the Thames" so, it was neat for Andrew to see a real "Little Toot!"

Seeing him smile like this makes my day! He LOVED the boat tour!

Another view of the lighthouse we toured!

We had just missed the lady who comes to this boat to feed the 15 cats that live on it! My question were "Why are cats on this boat?", "How did they get there?", and "Why?"

I could make up a really good story for this one. The guide explained some guy's engine caught fire and the boat sank. It's been there for about 3 months now.

The famous Lion's Bridge is getting a face lift!

Stay tuned more pictures are coming!
